23 November 2007

Andy and I got married. Scot performed the ceremony. It was amazing.

Here are some photos if you want to see:

Finished!!!!

I finished Sara's quilt on November 18th. I mailed it out the next day so she would get it before she left for Chile. Here are a few pictures of the final product.

I used the blue and grey polka dots for the binding and the back, none of those pictures turned out very well.

the border is on

I put the border on today after a trip to pine country quilts. I hope this isn't too busy...... Minnie and Milo are in the background, making sure I do things right!

The construction of Sara's quilt

Here are the strips all cut out. With this quilt Sara wanted Blue as the main color. I absolutely love Amy Butler's fabric. I am always drawn to it.

With this quilt I started with 6 different fabrics (1 yard each). I cut the strips into various widths.

Here the strips are all sewn together. It did curve a bit. This made it difficult for the next step. The next step is to cut the quilt again. so you end up strips that include all the fabric. So looking at this picutre I would cut left to right. Then you sew these together. Hopefully the picture will help this make sense!

Sara's Quilt

I am creating this quilt for my bff Sara. She is moving to Chile Fall of '07. Sara is an amazing person. We met 14 years ago and have been close friends ever since, never skipping a beat. Her life style and work keep her traveling the world, while I stay in the states. My favorite memories of Sara always include being outside. While living in Montana going to MSU Bozeman we had many great adventures.

This quilt is for Sara to take with her on her travels, something from me to keep her warm.

The local quilt shop is closed today so this is how far I have gotten. While craft projects I tend to plan as I go, I guess this is just my style, the focus continues to change.
