Cards

I started making cards recently. I fuse the fabic I want to embellish to muslin, and after I do the embellishment I fuse it the cardstock and then usually use the zigzag stitch on my machine for a final embellishment. Here are some pictures.

Apron

I recently made this apron for my sister in-law. She is starting a day care so she can stay home with her kids. I put a tide to go pen, hand sanitizer, tissues, hand wipes, band aides, neosporin spray, gloves and a flask (joke) in the pockets. I hope she uses it!

Gypsy log cabin for the Judd Twins

These log cabins are really fun to make. I started with 10 different fabrics, cut them into strips, and put them in these bags.
Here is one of the blocks, I made four blocks approximately 17"x19".
the token Artsy shot.

Here is one of the quilts, complete, enjoying some California sunshine.

Gypsy log cabin

This quilt is heading to Poland for Baby girl Karolinka. I hope she likes it!

I started with a small square in the middle and kept going around and around and around. The best part of this quilt I think is the fun fabric!

Gardening Totes

My mom and mother-in-law both enjoy gardening so this year for Mother's Day I whipped up little totes for them to  haul their tools around in.

Mothers day cards

I made some Mother's Day cards. I took strips of fabric and sewed them to the cards. Pretty simple, really fun, and a great way to use up scraps!

Hearts for Leni

I started making these hearts last night. A few weeks ago Kristi wanted to make a quilt for Leni and we never had the time to accomplish it. The square I was going to make would have been a heart so it felt like the right thing to do was to make it anyway. I only got the heart done and attached to the muslin. I need to go pick up some batting today so I can get it quilted. I want to make a lot more and I will post them as soon as they are done.

Today has begun with reflections on the past week. Andy's very special Aunt Leni passed last night, helping him through this process has been a growing experience for both of us. I have learned to sit and listen, to hug and hold and to just be. Being around to make sure things are the way he needs them have been especially important to both of us...it give him a sense of normalcy and give me something to do.
I am grateful for being to close to Sacramento right now because we were able to go up there so Andy could see her and I was able to run errands for those who needed things like dinner, a toothbrush or a hug. I also got to meet Karl and Ethel, amazing. Perhaps there was a reason it happened under such circumstances but it happened none the less and I could see immediately why Andy talks so highly of them and why he loves them so much. I felt so loved and was told some many great things. I hope that our future consists of a relationship with them.
I do continue to struggle with some demons but I figured out last night my reaction is out of a need to protect Andy and I just need to let it all go. A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle is helping me with that!
Time to get some work done.

I made this for Noelle's new baby boy.

Above is the card I made to go with.
Below is the quilt.
Below is some of the quilting.

Jodi's wall hanging

I made this wall hanging for Jodi. Jodi is one of my oldest and dearest friends. I hope she likes it!

The fire is quilted with lots of different kinds of thread. The trees are constructed out of strips of different colored fabric then quilted with lots of different colored thread.

Lotus Flower Wall hanging

I started this  while I was in Flagstaff and finished it up today. I used a combination of fabric I have been holding onto and one only satin pillow case. I added some beads to a few of the flowers. I like doing these smaller projects just as much a larger ones. I like something I can do in a day.
This picture is before I sewed on the flowers.

Below is one of the lotus flowers. I cut them out free hand using a rotarty cutter. I also used some spray adhesive but I am not that impressed with it as of yet but I could be using it incorrectly.

This shows the lotus flowers quilted. I did add some embellishment with beads to the base of a few of the flowers but it is hard to see it in the photo.

Here is it all finished. I used the satin pillow case as
the binding. It has a rough edge...I am curious to see
how it frays with age.

New craft Space

Andy and I moved into a new rental in Concord California on the 16th of December. The house is great and I get my own craft room. Here are a few pictures.
